- Today, May 6th, we found a young dog running loose in our neighborhood. We would like to find it's owner/s and reunite them.
- It's sweet natured, brindle color with white on the chest and a little white on tips of the paws. It is a male, approximately 14" tall, legs rather longish relative to it's body, tail not docked. No collar or tags.
Call 684-6132.

NOTE: For several days within the month of April, the above male Dachshund was spotted in our neighborhood. After being struck by a car on Tezel, the dog was able to be rescued. Sadly, it appears cats and dogs are being dumped in our neighborhood. This is a sweet dog, with a kind demeanor. No tags, no collar, covered in fleas. We cannot imagine this dog running away from any home because he is very submissive. Even the cats get along with him, and the vet gave him a clean bill of health. If he had not been hit by the car, we never would have been able to help him due to the fact that he was terrified out in the neighborhood on his own. He wouldn't have survived long.

Crime Spree 8700 block of Rustiling Breeze- March 31, 2009
A group of five young men in their early 20's entered our cul-de-sac at about 3:00 am with the intent of breaking into vehicles and hot wiring mostly pick-ups. Once entering the cul-de-sac, the group spread out among three to four residence successfully opening vehicles, ransacking them, taking items left in vehicles, and were preparing to hot wire when a young, male resident heard the ruckus, awakened his family, and went out to check the commotion. As the parent called police, he and his brother, frightened the culprits who ran towards a parked car at the entrance to the cul-de-sac. Chasing the culprits, they wrestled one of them down in their front yard and held him at gunpoint while police arrived. The others got away in a small, white sedan and returned moments later for their friend circling the cul-de-sac before police arrived.
The captured culprit had quite a record for car theft and had already served time twice before. Perhaps a reminder to all residents of Braun Oaks that crime in our ordinarily quiet neighborhood makes us vulnerable with Tezel being such a busy thorough fare.
Teens In Woods, Drugs, Fire Pit - Feb. 2009
Hello: We are owners of a home in the Braun Oaks Division. Yesterday (Saturday, February 21st) our next door neighbors and we smelled "camp fire" smell. When we came back in the afternoon, and went to our backyard we still smelled it strongly. We looked toward the back, and there was a green tarp in the distance in the woods. We called the fire department, and they went back there and found a smoldering fire pit, several lawn chairs, a bong, ashtrays, a tarp, and an iron sign "welcome to our pad". The fire department believes that neighborhood teens are using that area for a place to smoke marijuana. Our community association has already been notified so they can partner with the property owners of the woods bordering Bandera Road and Braun Oaks Division, in order to address this serious issue.
This afternoon when we went out to the backyard again (Sunday, February 22nd), we still noticed the strong smoke smell coming from the woods behind our house. We saw a young man back there, so we called the police. When the police arrived, and went back there, the person was gone. The police officer has filed a report. It is Case # 90-133881. He was police officer D. Loeffler with the San Antonio Police, 5020 Prue Rd.
Something needs to be done as soon as possible to block access to the woods. They are using the concrete drainage ditches as their entry points. Several times, we have seen 2 - 4 teens running down the ditch between our houses on Braun Run to the back woods. This is a potentially dangerous situation to all of our homes here in Braun Oak due to the drought conditions, and the proximity of the woods to our homes. All the homeowners in this area need to be aware of what is going on, and become more vigilant particularly those that border the wooded areas.

Sometime last week one of the homes on Rustling Breeze was broken into. Evidently there is a window by the front door that was broken and a flat screen TV was taken from the home. Also, it was mentioned that the bad guys/gals will be watching the neighborhood for when people are coming and going. I hope everyone will keep their eyes and ears open and look out for each other.
First Week in Dec.
Just last week a friend had gotten in her car after shopping at Ingram Mall and a black male stuck a knife in the window and told her to give him her purse. She did and he took off with it. Thank God she was not hurt. What a terrible experience!
Don’t forget even in normal times this Mall is known for such things but with the state of the economy and holidays added it’s going to get much worse everywhere! Stay Safe, Stay Well “and have a wonderful holiday season.

News from a friend that lives in a Helotes neighborhood: As of last week, in broad daylight thieves kick in the front door. Then they run, unlock any doors (I suppose this is in the event they need an alternate escape route) and gather up everything they can, load up and take off. They must case the homes and see when people leave for work, etc. I’m going to start setting my alarm when I leave during the day.Nov. 21, 2008
At least three neighbors are running every morning, rain or shine, though the streets of our neighborhood. I like to think of us as the early bird neighborhood patrol. I take my camera-cell phone with me when I go, but thankfully have never needed it.

This may have nothing to do with the thieves in the neighborhood, but yesterday there were at least four young men going from house to house. They appeared to bet legitimate in some ways, but in other ways looked suspicious to me. When driving home, I happened to notice two in blue shirts on Shady Leaf. When I turned onto our street, there were two different men puffing on cigarettes, walking together at times, then splitting up and ringing doorbells on opposite sides of our street. Before I could get in my house a silver pick-up came by (with the two blue shirt guys inside) and picked up the guys on our street (Shady Winds). I was relieved that they were gone. However, about an hour and a half later, they were back ringing doorbells. It was dark, around 7:30. This morning when I woke up it was bothering me, even before I read the email, and I think our neighborhood families should consider keeping cameras close-by. I wish I would have thought of that YESTERDAY. Anybody know what these guys were up to?
Vandalism - Nov. 17, 2008 Post
Spread the word to all our friends in the neighborhood. Some time this afternoon, someone came by and stole the basketball goal out of our driveway. Yes in broad daylight! I spoke to SAPD and they said to let everyone in our neighborhood know and to lock up our things tightly because it will probably get worse, holiday time is just around the corner.
Attempt to enter home - August, 2008
On an afternoon back in August, when we were both at work, two females were seen opening our garage keypad and pushing buttons. Our neighbor from across the street watched, then walked outside with hands on her hips. The girls said something about how we must not be home, giggled, and walked down the hill to Tezel. The girls described were late teen, early twenties, one black, one white, and both were overweight. They have not been seen in the neighborhood to our knowledge since. (We've been on the look-out.)
